Networked Digital Library of Theses and Dissertations (NDLTD)
The Networked Digital Library of Theses and Dissertations (NDLTD) is an international non-profit organization dedicated to promoting the adoption, creation, use, dissemination and preservation of electronic analogues to the traditional paper-based theses and dissertations. This website contains information about the initiative, how to set up Electronic Thesis and Dissertation (ETD) programmes, how to create and locate ETDs, and current research in digital libraries related to the NDLTD and ETDs.
The NDLTD assists students and universities in using electronic publishing and digital libraries to more effectively share knowledge in order to unlock potential benefits worldwide. The NDLTD also promotes student efforts to transform the genre of the print dissertation through the use of innovative software to create cutting edge hypertext/multimedia ETDs.
NDLTD announced that there are now over one million readily available electronic theses and dissertations (ETDs) online worldwide. The NDLTD, OCLC (Online Computer Library Center), VTLS and Scirus maintain and provide access related to the NDLTD Union Catalog of ETDs available in institutional repositories around the globe.

Legend Maker 1.0 - Generates eBooks from RTF files
ZappTek has launched a new application, Legend Maker 1.0 for Mac OS X, which converts book manuscripts from word processor files to eBooks. The new software generates eBooks files that will work with the iPad, Kindle, Reader and Nook and also software readers ibis reader and bookworm. It can generate eBooks with complex layout and design, using images, indexes, tables of contents and footnotes and endnotes.
Legend Maker works with word processor files that have been converted to RTF, taking text-based tags in the manuscript -- indicating page breaks, bookmarks and images -- and converting the layout references into a fully functional eBook. The converter supports typographical elements like italics, boldface, indentation, hyperlinks, and tables. Newly generated eBooks support user-supplied metadata like titles, authors, genres, publishers, copyrights, ISBN IDs and creation dates.
Legend Maker 1.0 requires an Intel chip and Mac OS X 10.6. It is $100 with lifetime free updates.
